14 May 2010 – Car Wash
Roxy Pacific Holdings Limited committed to a dollar-for-dollar donation, above their car wash efforts (conducted by hotel staff and management team of GMRH and Roxy Pacific Holdings). The car wash collected approximately $23,000 (including Roxy Pacific Holdings’ donation) for the needy families of Marine Parade CCC. The money will go towards helping the children of these families meet some basic and education necessities.
2009
Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel partnered Braddell Heights IRCC. MCYS conducted a series of dialogues with religious leaders in the 3rd Quarter of 2008 and many feed backed that they should come together to organize activities that promote common causes like charity and protection of environment, which will inevitably enhance bonding amongst different communities. With this impetus, Braddell Heights IRCC and its religious members worked with Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel to expand the scope of this project from just children to their immediate family members.
2008
Partnering Joo Chiat IRCC, we embarked on organizing a Charity Lunch for children of the nearby orphanages. About 200 children were involved from orphanages of various ethnic backgrounds. The hotel staff also collected donations amongst themselves to distribute as Hong Baos. HE President SR Nathan graced the occasion and presented the Hong Bao’s to the children.
12 November 2008 – Car Wash
A Charity Car Wash was organized to raise funds to be distributed to low income families in Braddell Heights. The IRCC worked with the GRO’s to identify the low income families and the 50 families selected were invited for a lunch on 13 June 2009 where the money was disbursed. The car wash was conducted on 12 Nov 2008. A total of 452 car wash coupons priced at $15 were sold and a total of $6800 was raised. Our hotel staff also donated towards the fund. A total of $150 were given as NTUC vouchers and Popular vouchers to 50 families. 3 families were also given an opportunity to spend a night in one of the 3 Accor Hotels in Singapore.
2007
Through the Children Are Our Hope For The Future program in 2007, Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel reached out to the local community under their corporate social responsibility framework. By doing so, they aimed to foster closer ties with the local community as a responsible corporate citizen. 200 Old Folks from the Kereta Ayer Old Folks Home were invited for lunch. Mr Chan Soo Sen was invited as a GOH. Each of the Old folks were given $10 Hong Bao. The money distributed were collected from the staff of the Hotel.
